What is YouTube SEO?

SEO or search engine optimization is a process of improving the ranking position of a website or video for a specific keyword.

You go to any search engine you like Google or YouTube. You type a word or a phrase for getting information or get any product and result. For example, I search on Google search engine “how to rank videos.” You can see there are millions of results available, millions of web pages accessible on Google. But, you can see that there are only ten results on the first page of Google. That means these ten results are more & most optimized pages for Google search engine for that specific search.

YouTube is the second biggest search engine in the world. Also, if we go to YouTube and search any keyword, for example, I search a keyword “Digital Marketing.”

I entered that keyword, and you can see that there are 1, 65,000 videos available on YouTube for this specific keyword. And you can see that at number three. “How to Start a Career in Digital Marketing in 2019.” There is a video from Neil Patel channel.

Also, if we search for some other keyword like “Digital Marketer”. You can see Neil Patel video available on the third position on that keyword. So that is called search engine optimization. Means that this video is very well optimized for that keyword. The search result that page which appears when we search a keyword called SERP (Search Engine result page).

We will target & learn about how we can rank our videos on different or multiple Search terms on the first page of the SERP. Means how we can bring videos on the search engine.

How do search engines work?

Search engines are everywhere in today’s hyper-connected world, but how they work is still a mystery for the majority of the people who use them.

For example, you search a keyword or question on Google or any other search engine. You get the Top 10 or Top 20 websites from there from Google and you open these webs and get the information, which you required. But don’t know How Google or other search engine provides you the same results, which you needed. At their core searching is work by crawling websites using a spider or a bot and indexing them in their database.

What search engines do?

Search engines send a spider to your website or your video. Spider copy or extract all that text from your website post or your video description and other things — also, other links which you provided on your context.  Search Engine spider provides this information to the Crawler. Then crawler index and give the numbering to your website on which number your website or video will be available.

The Crawler will put the position of your website or video in the database; When a user search query, the search engine goes to their database and fetches that result and represents it to you and gets the same result relevant according to the keywords.

YouTube Ranking Algorithm

YouTube ranking doesn’t mean that you get your video on the first page of YouTube. On YouTube, Ranking implies that your video also appears on suggestive videos. If your video appeared on suggestive videos related to your keywords, that’s mean. You will get more results, more views than only get your video on the first page.

YouTube ranking algorithm has changed in the past. You tubers Ranking videos only for the title, description, and tags. But now in 2019 YouTube update the algorithm YouTube rank videos which watch more time and more user engagement.

Majority of videos have more than 5 to 10 minutes. Because when a video is long, you spend more time than a short video. So the video which got more watch time that means search engine think that video is more interesting because user interacting with them because of YouTube watch that used to communicate on YouTube, to stay on YouTube. Watch time means how long user watch is your video. How long are you spend time on your video? For example, you upload a video of five minutes and I use the search for archive, and he got your video and opened your video and then it’s spending on two minutes of video. That’s mean He watch two minutes of from five minutes from your video and then leave your video.

That means you’ve got two minutes of watch time. If our user spends more time on your video, your video will get better rank then our users spend low time.

User engagement means that the user interacts with your content. For example, a user like, dislike also comment on your video. That’s mean your video is attractive and all your video has some value, Because Search Engine think that when users like, dislike and comment on the content on the video and that’s mean the content is interesting and engaging then the user provides you with a better ranking.

Video Thumbnails:

The fifth is last, but not least is the thumbnail. A thumbnail is very important to me because if we cover all above ranking factor and we have not covered that last part thumbnail that means we will get low clicks. We will rank on the first page, but we will not get the same result which we want.

How to Write Good SEO Friendly Title & Description for YouTube Videos

We will learn about how to pick a good title. That’s means, how to use keywords in your title and how long your title should be. Which type of title you should use for your video and where to put your keyword, because if you don’t follow the rules, then you will not get rank or not get more and more views. So, there are some words to be reminded before writing the title of your videos.

Title Should be 65 to 75 Characters:

The first condition is that you have the written title between 65 to 75 characters. You should not write a title which contains more than 75 char., because when you go to YouTube, it will represent only for 75 characters of your title. If your title includes more than Seventy-five characters, that’s mean Google gives lower ranking on your video because Google crawler read only 75 to 80 characters for their indexing.

For example, if we search on Google and search for the title and you can see there, this video has more than Seventy-five characters and Google shows all dots after 75 characters. So, when the user cannot read, why we have to write a long title.

You can see there are dots after the keyword and main title because if you write the long title, the search engine will not understand after 75 Char. That’s mean, we have to write on our main title between 65 to 75 characters not more than these characters.

Put Keyword at Start:

Always put the keyword at the start. If you are creating a video for something, your keyword should be at the beginning of your title.

Title Should be in a Sentence & Sensible:

The title should be in a sentence of past, future, or present. Your title should follow the Grammar because your title should be sensible. Sensible that’s mean your title should create a meaning, say that you have to use as the meaningful title. Your title should not be composed of only the keywords.

How to write YouTube videos description:

1. Videos Description should be more than 250 characters.
2. Put your targeted keywords in the first paragraph of your video description. Either tries to put keywords in the first 150 characters.
3. Include links in your description of your other videos then you will get backlinks from your videos. If your one video gets more & more views, that’s mean the person who got some information from the video. Then absolutely he will see your description, and if he sees some other videos related to your videos in the description, then he will also watch your video.
4. Providing with links of different videos, I increase the length of my description because when you put some content in your description. Search engine and think that person is real and legal, and there is something in his video.
5. Ask for subscribing your YouTube channel and put social links on your video description.
